X-RAY & RADIOLOGY

Radiology is a branch of paramedical science that deals with the diagnosis of diseases. This is done with the help of technology and diagnostic tests in medical treatment using radiation and imaging of the inner organ systems in the human body. A radiologist collaborates with doctors and is an integral part of the medical diagnosis process. Radiologists use radiography to precisely diagnose a patient’s illness or injury with the aid of technology.

Radiologists use a variety of imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases, including X-rays, ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), and nuclear medicine, such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This rapid development of imaging technology over the past few years has created several opportunities in the field of radiology after 12th.

This field is divided into two areas of study – Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. In the former, x-rays are used to diagnose or treat patients’ injuries, while in the latter, minimally-invasive procedures like ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, etc are done to diagnose and treat patients
